Next Consul Democracy meet-up: 7 October

This time in our Community Meet-up series: German Cities and Youth Participation.

The next Consul Democracy Community Meet-up will take place online on 7 October at 17:00 CET.

We are happy to announce that representatives from two German Consul-powered cities will be with us this afternoon (or morning, depending on where you’re calling in from). They will share about their experiences, challenges and lessons from working with Consul and building participatory processes over the last two years.

Emelie Abt (Kempten), Anna-Katharina Helwig and Jasmin Nimar (Augsburg) respectively run the platforms https://machmit.kempten.de/ and https://machmit.augsburg.de/.

Both the platforms as well as the participatory processes differ in important respect in the two cities, but they also share a few features. One is that they both extensively work with Citizen Proposals feature of the Consul platform. The other is their joint focus on youth participation in getting young people in Kempten and Augsburg more engaged.

How is it going? What are the lessons and challenges so far? What can other cities learn from Kempten and Augsburg, and what needs to be improved?

Emelie, Anna-Katharina and Jasmin will share insights during two presentations of about 20 minutes. After that we will have plenty of time for questions.

You can look forward to:

  • Learning a great deal about several cycles of citizen participation in one small city and one big city in Germany
  • Zooming in on the aspect of youth participation and the strategies that the cities implement to enage more young people
  • Meeting other Consul Democracy users, citizen participation leaders, and of course the Consul Democracy Foundation team
  • Having much time to ask questions, so come prepared !
